The Project
Movie Research App is a UX/UI prototype designed for my User Experience Design class. The app allows users to search and explore detailed information about movies, including scenes, soundtrack, behind the scenes content, cast, director, and more.
When Harry Met Sally was featured as the example movie to showcase all the app’s capabilities. The prototype was built entirely in Figma.
The goal was to turn movie research into an experience that feels organized, visual, and enjoyable to explore.
moodboard + visual Research
The visual direction began with a moodboard inspired by the warm, cinematic autumn atmosphere of New York City in When Harry Met Sally. The moodboard helped define the color, tone, imagery, and nostalgic character of the interface before moving into polished screens.

Visual direction
Warm, cinematic, and a little nostalgic.
The design was inspired by the warm, cinematic autumn palette of New York City — the iconic backdrop of When Harry Met Sally. Burnt orange, warm amber, charcoal, and soft grey were chosen to evoke the nostalgic, cozy feeling of discovering a beloved film.
UX THINKING
Making a lot of information feel simple.
The challenge was not only designing attractive screens. It was deciding how movie information should be grouped, what users would expect to find next, and how they could move through the experience without feeling overwhelmed.
